Candle Care Guide

To get the most out of your S&B Scented Moments candles, follow these simple care tips. Proper candle care not only extends the life of your candle but also ensures a safe and beautiful burn every time.

First Burn

The first burn is the most important! Allow your candle to burn until the entire surface has melted into a full melt pool — this usually takes 2–4 hours depending on the size of your candle. This prevents tunnelling and ensures an even burn throughout the life of your candle.

Trim the Wick

Before each burn, trim your wick to approximately 5mm. This helps to control the flame size, reduce soot, and extend the life of your candle. A wick trimmer is ideal, but small scissors work just as well.

Burn Time

We recommend burning your candle for no longer than 4 hours at a time. Burning for too long can cause the wick to move or the wax to overheat.

Keep It Clean

Keep your candle free from wick trimmings, dust, and debris. These can affect the quality of the burn and may be a fire hazard.

Safety First

Never leave a burning candle unattended
Keep out of reach of children and pets
Always burn on a heat-resistant surface
Keep away from draughts, curtains, and flammable materials
Do not burn when less than 1cm of wax remains

Storage

Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve the fragrance and colour. Always replace the lid when not in use.
