Customer Information for Candle & Wax Melt Burners
Key Safety Guidelines
- Placement: Always use on a flat, heat-resistant surface, away from curtains, papers, or flammable items.
- Supervision: Never leave a lit tea light or electric burner unattended.
- Children & Pets: Keep burners out of reach to avoid accidents.
- Ventilation: Use in a well-ventilated room but avoid direct drafts which can cause uneven burning.
- Correct Candle Size: Only use unscented 4-hour tea lights in traditional ceramic burners. Larger candles can overheat and crack the burner.
- Electric Burners: Plug-in or electric warmers are safer alternatives, offering consistent heat without open flames.
Usage Instructions
- Wax Melts: Place 1–2 wax cubes or a small portion of wax melt in the dish. Do not overfill.
- Essential Oils (if compatible): Some burners are designed for oils as well as wax. Check manufacturer instructions.
- Burn Time: Allow wax to melt fully to release fragrance. Extinguish tea lights after 4 hours or switch off electric burners.
- Changing Wax: Once fragrance fades, let wax cool and harden. Remove by gently warming the dish and sliding out the wax or using cotton pads to absorb melted wax.
Risks & Precautions
- Overheating: Using oversized candles or leaving burners on too long can cause cracking or fire hazards.
- Wax Spills: Overfilling dishes may lead to melted wax spilling over.
- Electric Safety: For plug-in burners, avoid using near water and check cords regularly.
- Fragrance Sensitivity: Some customers may be sensitive to strong scents; start with smaller amounts of wax.
Customer Tips
- Rotate fragrances to avoid “nose-blindness.”
- Use seasonal scents for a cosy atmosphere.
- Clean burner dishes regularly for best performance.
- Consider electric burners for households with children or pets.
General Candle Care Tips
- Trim the Wick: Always trim the wick to about 1/4 inch (6mm) before each use. This helps maintain a clean burn, reduces soot, and prevents excessive flickering.
- First Burn: On the first burn, allow the candle to melt completely across the surface. This prevents tunneling, where the wax burns down the center, leaving unused wax on the sides.
- Burn Time: Limit burn time to 3-4 hours at a time. This prevents overheating and ensures an even burn.
- Heat-Resistant Surface: Always place candles on a heat-resistant surface or in a candle holder to protect your furniture from heat damage.
- Avoid Drafts: Keep candles away from drafts, vents, or fans, as these can cause uneven burning and excessive smoke.
- Storage: Store candles in a cool, dark place to prevent degradation. Avoid exposing them to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
- Extinguishing: Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame instead of blowing it out. This prevents wax splatter and keeps the wick centered.
- Check for Damage: Before lighting, inspect the candle for any cracks or damage to the container. Do not burn damaged candles.
- Keep Clean: Ensure the wax pool is free from debris, such as wick trimmings or dust, to promote an even burn.
- Disposal: Do not burn the candle when there is less than 1/4 inch of wax left in the container to avoid overheating the glass.
